Why should Agra (India) be on your bucket list

June 17, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

People make their bucket lists according to their own preferences and what attracts them the most in a location. There is no wrong way to do it. Only you can establish the criteria because you are the one who knows yourself best. It is pretty logical. However, you must always be open for recommendations. Broadening your horizons is the best thing you could do as a traveler, which is why you should hear more about Agra.

Chances are you already know about this city in India. Everyone knows what is there to explore. If not, then you should know that Agra hosts one of the biggest love monuments in the world, the Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The monument is, in fact, the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. UNESCO declared the structure a World Heritage Site stating that it is the ‘jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage.’ It is not difficult to see why. The place is an architectural wonder and a small piece of heaven. The gardens are spectacular, and the sights are amazing. Keep in mind that the area may get crowded sometimes. Taj Mahal has millions of visitors every year. However, do not let that steal the opportunity of admiring one of the most beautiful structures in the world.

Apart from Taj Mahal, Agra has other beauties you can enjoy. One of them is the Agra Fort. The structure is not as imposing and impressive as the Taj Mahal, but it is definitely worth visiting. The place holds many stories, but it would be best if you hire a guide to enlighten you on the building’s history. The sights are beautiful, and you can enjoy a nice view from the top. People say that the Agra Fort is a complimentary attraction in the city, although it would be best to enjoy it without comparing it to Taj Mahal. Otherwise, you can spoil the experience.

Sheesh Mahal is inside the Agra Fort, but there is something special about it that makes it a main attraction. The walls and ceiling are covered in mirrors. Small pieces of mirror, in fact. The glass palace was built by Shah Jahan as well. The mirror is said to be brought from Syria. The design is marvelous, and you will be mesmerized by the details of the place. There is nothing like it in the entire world. Do not leave the Agra Fort without seeing the Sheesh Mahal.

Agra should be on everyone’s bucket list. As a traveler, you cannot go through life without seeing the Taj Mahal at least once. The trip is affordable; you can do it on a budget, like most travelers. Not to mention that getting a visa is extremely easy. All you need is an Indian e-visa, and you can enter the country through one of the 24 airports and three seaports. All you need is a valid passport and a few other things. You can also get passport photos online if you think it is necessary. There is little effort on your part. All you have to do is book that flight and pack a bag.

June 8, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

Source

Age is just a number, so why should it keep you from an intense and exotic adventure? More and more seniors are breaking stereotypes and ditching the lazy vacations by the pool for kayaking, hiking, and rock climbing in some of America’s most adventurous locations. Some say your life doesn’t begin until you’re 50, so why not live it to the fullest? Here are some of the boldest locations and senior adventure tours in the United States that you just have to jump on.

Explore the Missouri River with Row Adventures

Missouri may not seem like a typical vacation spot, but it has everything you need for an adventure that gets you in touch with the nation’s roots. Row Adventures, a multisport travel group, takes you along the journey of Lewis and Clark. Travel back in time on your 34’ canoe dugout as you listen to the stories of the river. On your journey you will visit the camps Lewis and Clark stayed at 200 years ago, hike the famous White Cliffs area, and explore Native American cultural sites. Suitable for anyone in reasonable physical condition, it is a great way to dive into America’s past.

Rock the Waves of Hawaii with Road Scholar

Hawaii is regularly listed as one of the favorite vacation destinations for seniors. But why not explore Hawaii in style? Get your feet wet on a marine adventure through the islands with Road Scholar. Originally called Elderhostel, Road Scholar is a travel group that organizes educational travel for older adults. Road Scholar dismisses the idea of simply laying out by the beach and plunges you right in the waters of Hawaii. On your tour, you will learn how to surf and navigate the waters in a canoe. Then, explore the water underneath the waves in a submarine and snorkeling adventure. The program is geared towards grandparents and their grandchildren so bring your loved one along for a journey you’ll never forget.

Navigate the Glaciers of Alaska with ElderTreks

Alaska is full of magnificent animals from the humpback and orca whales to the sea lions. But what if you could get up close and personal with these animals? ElderTreks, an exotic adventure tour agency catered towards travelers over the age of 50, coordinates a cruise through the Alaskan waters. You will travel aboard a motor yacht and sail through the infamous icebergs as you explore the beauties of Alaska. Along the way you can also hike on glacial moraines and sea kayak for sights of whales and sea lions.

If you’re the adventuring spirit, these three tours are sure to impress. Ditch the regular vacation, and embark on an adventure that you will remember for years to come. Remember, age is just a number – to being old and bold!

5 Outdoor Activities in the UK That Are Not For The Faint-hearted

June 6, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

Are you looking for an amazing activity in the UK? There are many things to do here that will keep you entertained. Not just the norm of skiing in Europe.  If you are the kind of person who chases adrenaline more than relaxation in your free time, then check out these activities which will certainly give you that adrenalin high.

Skydiving

Jumping out of an aeroplane mid-flight might sound scary. But if it’s adrenalin fuelled excitement you are looking for then try a Skydive. Feel that rush of air against your face and the notion of free-falling through the clouds as the ground gets ever closer. Most beginners usually start with a tandem dive where you are strapped to an instructor who does all the complicated bits. You are left to enjoy the pull of the parachute opening and the gentle glide back to earth.

Cliff jumping

For thrill seekers cliff jumping is an excellent choice for an outdoor activity in the UK. Definitely a amazing and memorable thing to do.  Jumping straight into the sea from a height is not for the faint -hearted. But it is safe as long as you book with a reputable guide. They know the safest places to jump and will review your abilities. All that’s left to do is take the plunge.

Wakeboarding

An extreme sport which is a cross between snowboarding and water skiing. An adrenalin junkies dream especially if you like water sports. There are some perfect locations in the UK, with rugged coastlines and beaches with instructors available so you can give wakeboarding a go. This sport is popular with surfers and other water sport enthusiasts but anyone can give it a try. Check out the TOAD website if you are looking for great UK activities like this to try.

Bungee Jumping

Quite a brave thing to do, jump off a platform, only to be thrust back up and down until the bungee cord becomes slack. But what a rush you will feel once you take that plunge. Don’t worry though, the cord is extremely strong and designed to stretch during the jumper’s fall and to repeatedly snap back up. Each jumper is weighed, to make sure that the correct bungee rope is used. So as long as you book with a safe well-known company, all you have to concentrate on is stepping off that platform.

Power boating

Driving or riding in a speed boat is probably going to make you feel like James Bond. Does that sound like a thrilling outdoor activity to enjoy in the UK? You’re definitely going to think you are in a movie as you speed along the water. Learn about racing lines and how to control the boat as you travel along in style, whilst feeling the air on your face as you zoom along.

Have you noticed that a lot of these activities involve jumping or diving? You might have to be brave or insane depending on how you look at it. Whether it’s a scary tourist attraction or an adrenalin fuelled break, there are plenty of choices here in the UK.  For a unique holiday destination with amazing outdoor activities you don’t have to look very far. The UK has plenty of places to enjoy extreme activities and make it a great sporting break.

Essential Things to Look into Before You Rent a Boat

June 1, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

While it is expensive to own a boat, as well as inconvenient, that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy them. In fact, thanks to boat rental Miami visitors and residents alike can enjoy the luxury and convenience of seeing the city from the side of the water, in a way they can afford. When you rent a boat, things such as maintenance, docking bills, and storage are all included in the price, so you don’t have to worry about those added expenses. So what should you look into first?

The Type and Size of Boat

Choosing a type and size of boat is down to your party, but also to the waterway on which you will be sailing. A bow rider or deck boat, for instance, is a great touring boat. A pontoon is great for larger groups of people looking for some true luxury and relaxation. If you want to live the life of luxury, then a yacht is what you are looking for. Fishing boats are also incredibly popular. Essentially, there is a boat out there for anyone, regardless of your particular needs.

Your Rental Agreement

You must read and study the terms and conditions as set out in your rental agreement. Even if this is your fifth or tenth time renting the same boat from the same company, you need to check your agreement. Look for things such as how far you can sail, whether you can sail at night, how many people you are allowed to have on board, and more.

A key thing to look for as well, is cancellations. Generally speaking, if you have to cancel for whatever reason, you will lose at least your deposit. However, if you are not allowed to sail, for instance due to a weather phenomenon, then you should be allowed your money back.

The Condition of the Yacht

It is absolutely essential that you examine the yacht before you take it out. On the one hand, that is to make sure that it is in good condition, although you may not really know what to look for. On the other hand, however, it is to make sure that you will get your deposit back by highlighting any damage that was there before you took the boat out.

Safety Equipment

Last but not least, it is important that relevant safety equipment is on board. This includes first aid kids and life jackets. If you charter a very large yacht, you may also need it to include dinghies or life rafts. It is unlikely that you will ever need them, but then they also said that the Titanic was unsinkable and look what happened to that.

Yachting and boating is a relative safe experience. However, this is mainly due to the fact that you have to take the time to make sure the weather is fine and the relevant equipment is on board. In so doing, you make sure that, while you are out on the waterways, you can sit back, relax, and just have a really good time.

Sunshine Reveals Top 10 Beaches in Greece for 2017

May 31, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

Greece is one of the most popular holiday destinations for British tourists. Sunshine, a UK-based online travel agency, has recently completed a new report on the five top off the beaten track beaches on various Greek islands. While off the beaten track, these beaches are not desolate, and there are fantastic amenities available for travellers of any ilk.

UK online travel agency Sunshine has found that Greece is one of their most popular holiday destinations. For 2017, however, they wanted to recommend which of the many different locations in Greece are particularly interesting. The list they revealed was:

  1. Iguana Beach in Crete, which has two lovely beaches with amenities and is easy to reach with public transportation. The church of the Holy Apostles is not to be missed. It also has an easterly cover, which can get very busy because it is smaller, but the surf is also milder. The Iguana beach is the second option, which is more exposed and bigger. The sand is thick and the multitude of shells make it a favourite with children. It is a Blue Flag rated beach. Various hotels, including Athina Beach Hotel and Sorta Apartments, are available here.
  2. Kalathos in Rhodes, which faces the Mediterranean and doesn’t experience as much wind. Kalathos beach is classed as one of the best beaches in the area, despite its coarse sand. This is because it is a very big beach that is relatively quiet regardless. The clean water is very attractive, and most guests stay in the Atrium Palace Hotel, which is very friendly for families and comes with various restaurants, tennis courts, novelty pools, and beautiful gardens.
  3. Vatera in Lesbos, which is the longest beach of the island at 7km. Scattered pebbles make up the beach and, on a good day, you can see Psara and Hios islands, and even Turkey. The sea is flat and warm, making it perfect for children. There is an ancient temple nearby that is worth a visit, but the rest of the space feels almost desolate. There are some excellent local eateries, however, and you will really feel as if you’re living amongst the Greek.
  4. The Pelion peninsula, which is filled with a variety of beautiful beaches, each of which offers something unique. A popular area you will find quite a lot of tavernas, castles, rock tunnels, caves, excellent hotels and lodging opportunities, and more. This area has a very old town feel to it, which is quite romantic as well.
  5. Velanio in Skopelos, where you can enjoy rock top chapels and idyllic coves. In fact, the film Mamma Mia! was filmed here in 2007, even though the Velanio beach was not featured in it. It is the least developed and longest beach in the area, with 600 meters of fine gravel and pine-backed sand. It is a beautiful and scenic area, with views all the way to Evvia across the pristine see. It is a part-naturist beach, which is something to be aware of. The area itself is incredibly beautiful, with fantastic hotels and villas available.

A representative from Sunshine says: “Greece is a very popular tourist destination and for good reason. In fact, each one of the island has something unique to give to its visitors. Listing all of the beaches available would be impossible, and the five mentioned above are our personal favourites, even though other people might like different beaches better. What sets the five above apart, however, is that that they are slightly off the beaten track, giving people more of a unique experience when they visit.”

The Luxe Life in Los Cabos, Mexico!

April 28, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

Los Cabos is often considered the ‘Lands End’ of the Baja California peninsula. Yet with average flights times from the states being less than 3 hours, Los Cabos is the perfect location for a quick getaway with your friends. The two towns of Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, offer beautiful landscapes and action-packed activities. From La Sierra de la Laguna mountains to dry desert and finally the Pacific ocean, there isn’t much that you can’t do in Los Cabos. It’s no surprise that this is one of Mexico’s top 5 travel destinations.

5* resorts line the coast and bring the two towns together. Including spa resorts, adults only and family friendly choices, there is a resort for everyone. However, for an authentic yet luxe stay at Los Cabos, a luxury villa rental is also a great choice.

While the two towns of Los Cabos are generally referred to as ‘Cabo,’ they both have distinct personalities. Your stay in Los Cabos will no doubt include a mix of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, as they are separated by a mere 20 miles of coastline. But it’s good know the difference when you decide where you want to stay.

  • Cabo San Lucas:The louder, gaudier town of the two, Cabo San Lucas is always ready for a party. San Lucas relies heavily on tourism and so, unsurprisingly, you will find tourist shops, bars and beach parties on every corner. As a result, San Lucas is a hit with the younger crowds looking for adventure. The majority of the action takes place around the marina. Activities include: Snorkeling, diving, quad biking and dune buggy riding, zip-lining, fishing, sailing and a plethora of watersports.
  • San José del Cabo: A mere 20 miles can make a world of difference in Mexico. San José del Cabo is the older, more mature of these towns and this is reflected in the town’s very atmosphere. 250 years is no small age gap, and so San José del Cabo has taken on a more sophisticated, grown-up approach to tourism. Cobblestone streets, authentic eateries and local culture make this part of Cabo a laid-back and luxe destination. Activities include:sampling authentic Mexican cuisine, perusing the local galleries and wandering around the marina.

The best thing about Los Cabos is that you really do have the best of both worlds. If you like a party but need your time to relax, staying in San José del Cabo gives you the downtime you need. If you love being the life of the party but also enjoy a few hours looking at impressive local art, then you can stay in San Lucas and head over to San José for your culture fix.

Within San José del Cabo there are many exclusive communities that offer luxury rental villas.  The Puerto Los Cabos development is home to many such communities. Fundadores is a great example that offers stylish villas with unbeatable ocean views. The Los Cabos corridor joins the two towns and also offers many unique vacation rentals. Developments along the corridor include beautiful Punta Ballena. Cabo San Lucas is known for it’s famous developments such as the Pedregal. Often frequented by celebrities and socialites, Pedregal is home to unique and innovative villas that leave a lasting impression.

Wherever you decide to stay, there are some things to keep in mind when visiting Los Cabos:

  • Be Aware at the Beach- Due to the strong currents of the Pacific ocean, not all beaches in Los Cabos are swimmable and some can be very dangerous. San Lucas has better (and more swimmable) beaches than San José but they are also busier.
  • Haggling is a Thing-With Los Cabos attracting so many tourists, there are many sellers offering over-priced souvenirs and local wares. Feel free to ignore or politely decline their offers. However, if you are interested in an item, haggling effectively will save you some cash.
  • Adventure Tours-Many tours are available for all of the different activities available in the area. Booking a tour in person will always be cheaper than online versions as you can once more negotiate the price.
  • Rentals – Luxury vacation rentals are aplenty in Cabo, however be aware of the location. As the center of the action Cabo San Lucas is generally more in demand and therefore more expensive than San José del Cabo.
  • High/ low season – As with all tourist destinations in Mexico, Los Cabos has a high and low season. Generally speaking, the high season runs from October to March/April while the low season is April/May to October. Weather is temperate year round, with slightly more rain in the summer months. If crowds aren’t your thing, travelling towards the end of high season or during the low season will pay off.

If you and your friends have your hearts set on a fantastic Mexican getaway but you’re not sure where, Los Cabos is a clear contender. It’s true, there are many amazing destinations in Mexico but how many can offer you a mix of majestic mountains, desert dunes and the rolling waves of the Pacific ocean? If you still need convincing, here are some pros and cons to consider:

Pro’s-

  • Accessibility: Los Cabos is a short, direct flight from the States. It is especially accessible from the west coast.
  • Two in One:Los Cabos is literally a two in one vacation. Visitors can choose how much time to spend in each town, making the most of the distinct personalities.
  • Unlimited Adventure:Los Cabos’ unique blend of landscape means there’s not many adventure activities you can’t do here. From whale watching and deep sea fishing to riding over the desert on your choice of vehicle – Los Cabos was made for adventure.
  • Safety:Los Cabos is generally considered safe as a travel destination. Beware of hangovers above all.
  • Choice of Accommodation: Los Cabos offers a range of accommodation options in different areas along the tip of the Baja California Peninsula.

Con’s-

  • Popularity: Los Cabos is a very popular destination. If you’re looking for a less touristy destination, head for San José del Cabo.
  • Sea Safety:As with many awe-inspiring things, the Pacific ocean can also be very dangerous. Many beaches are off-limits to swimmers so waterbabies may find this frustrating.
  • High Season, High Prices:Accommodation and activities usually cost more during peak season.

Whether you choose Cabo San Lucas or San José del Cabo, you and your friends are guaranteed a memorable stay. With so much on offer every day is different in Los Cabos, creating a vacation you won’t forget in a hurry.

An Insider Guide to Morzine: Where to Ski, Stay and Eat

December 27, 2016 By anthony Leave a Comment

As well as being a popular ski resort, Morzine is a proper little alpine town that has a life that goes far beyond what happens on the slopes. There is so much to this town that you should definitely do your research before you go.

Luckily, in this article I will share with you how you can enjoy the thrilling slopes and the lively après-ski scene all while staying in gorgeous, chic accommodation.

Some Basics About Morzine

Morzine has been winter ski resort since before the first world war, it used to be a place where wealthy guests would go to spend the winter and enjoy skating on the frozen lake and skiing in the rolling pastures. Nowadays, Morzine is considered the capital of the 650km Portes du Soleil, the largest international ski area in Europe.

Where Is It?

Morzine is located in the Haute Savoie region of France. Only an hour away from Geneva airport, it is one of the most accessible ski resorts, especially for Brits!

When’s the Best Time to Ski?

Choosing when to head for the slopes can be a difficult decision. Have no fear, Morzine is as good in summer as it is in winter, so here is a quick break down of what the slopes are like, month by month.

January is a very underrated month; most people have gone back to school and work after the Christmas break so the slopes are almost empty and you don’t need to worry about lift queues. The weather is usually pretty cold, but really, this just makes for the best snow conditions.

February is not such a quiet month, the school holidays in France begin! While those with children will be restricted, it is important to note that accommodation is often booked months in advance.

March is slightly warmer and the sun comes out for longer each day. The snow quality may not be the best but is still a popular month.

April is the snowiest month owing to the spring showers. The weather is great for long and relaxing lunches in the sun and the slopes are fairly quiet. It’s also a great time to grab an end-of-season deal!

May, June, July and August are the summer months, the weather is hotter and the outdoor activities are booming. You might find skiing a bit harder in the summer months!

September is when the rain starts, the temperature starts to cool down but it is still great for outdoor activities.

Just in case you were thinking of going in October and November, be warned, most places are closed and taking a break in preparation for the winter season. The whole resort will be very quiet, the lifts will be closed and the weather will be getting colder and wetter.

The Best Slopes

No matter what level of skier you are, if you know where to go, the skiing in Morzine is superb. The top of the lift system goes all the way up to 2466m, although as many people know, this isn’t always a guarantee of good conditions.

Intermediate level skiers will love how much they can explore the valleys and slopes while based in Morzine. The variety of choices is huge and ranges from open slopes up high to lovely tree-lined runs lower down. Those more advanced skiers can easily find themselves a challenge nearby with the the Swiss Wall, as well as the steep off-piste descents from Les Haut Forts down to Les Prodains. Last but by no means least, beginners will find themselves well-catered for too by a combination of excellent British ski schools and some fantastic nursery slopes.

It’s Not All About the Slopes

Although it seems unlikely that you’ll be going on a skiing holiday if you don’t want to ski, it can happen. Maybe you’re going away with friends but are thinking you’ll spend your time enjoying the local life than skiing. Morzine is a great choice for those families and groups where not everyone wants to ski. With a great selection of slopes for the skiers and a huge choice of other activities for everyone else, Morzine has it all.

Some of the other activities that don’t involve you tumbling down a snowy hill include ice skating on a world class ice rink, relaxing in a spa or ice diving in a frozen lake! In the summer months there are activities like mountain biking, paragliding, golfing, fishing and canyoning.

Accommodation

Morzine has a very wide range of accommodation options, and people with every budget and style will be able to find something to suit them. There are three main types of accommodation available in Morzine:

Chalets

The most classic of all the accommodation options, people normally assume chalets are only for large groups, but there are stunning Morzine chalets available for every size of party. Chalet can either come self-catered, which is of course when you purchase all of your own food, or they come with a meal package. You will have your own chalet host, who will prepare meals, drinks and snacks for your party each day. Not only is this a way to get a bit of luxury, it will likely save you money too, as food in the French Alps is notoriously expensive.

A chalet will be the only accommodation option that will give you a log burning fire, which is a quintessential skiing stereotype, but one that people will love to take advantage of. If you want a traditional ski trip accommodation, choose a chalet and enjoy an alpine feel with wood and checked fabrics aplenty.

Apartments

An apartment is a good way to lower costs for smaller parties- though don’t assume ‘apartment’ means an ugly block of flats! Apartments are most frequently self-catering, and tend to be in the centre of Morzine too, so they’re very close to all the amenities.

Hotels

Often a pricier choice, hotels are the option to go for if you don’t want the hassle of doing anything for yourself. You can occasionally find a good deal, but bear in mind there’s nowhere to cook your own meals so you’ll need to rely on pricier resort food during your stay.

Food

There are so many excellent places to eat in Morzine, it’s difficult to highlight just a few.

For cheap and cheerful food, try Mamma’s for main meals, and Le Schuss Creperie for snacks and iconic French crepes. Barbecue is also a firm favourite in Morzine, and places such as La Paika and the Inferno Terrace Restaurant are well loved for their food.

If you’re looking for fine dining, try L’Atelier- it’s achieved a coveted Michelin star and offers both taster menus and delicious meat and fish options.

There’s no shortage of delicious meal options at all prices- so whether you’re on a budget or are ready to splash out, your tummy will be satisfied.

With this guide, you’re ready to take to the slopes of Morzine and have a fabulous ski trip! Whether you’re on a big or small budget, and prefer an adventurous holiday or a quiet one, you’ll love what Morzine has to offer you and your loved ones.
