Royal Holiday Club Cruise Vacation Do’s and Dont’s

October 21, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

At Royal Holiday, giving you a great vacation experience is our top priority. By giving you access to some of the most exclusive and exotic locations around the world, we want to give you that special, one-of-a-kind travel experience that you can’t get by simply booking a hotel. It means a lot to us that our members trust us to give them everything they need and want during their vacations, from luxurious sleeping quarters to first-class dining and world-class adventures. However, to make your experience the best it can possibly be, we need a little help from you. Here are a few things to keep in mind for your upcoming Royal Holiday cruise vacation.

DO: Research Your Destination

A cruise can offer travelers an easy, safe, and exciting way to explore a broader cultural region rather than a single destination. While it’s always interesting to go into an experience headfirst without having done any planning, it’s also a good idea to do a bit of preliminary research right off the bat. Are there specific places you want to visit at certain docking points? Is there a type of local cuisine you want to try? The more you plan out your trip in terms of priorities, the better prepared you’ll be to get everything into your itinerary.

DON’T: Overpack

Whether you’re planning on taking advantage of our stunning Alaskan cruise or hitting the Eastern Caribbean coast on your journey, the quality of your experience will be enhanced by packing well. That doesn’t mean, however, that you should throw everything into your suitcase and call it packing. Many cruise cabins are smaller than guests expect, and packing a lot tends to weigh travelers down. For best results, pack light, and try to pack a solid jacket for chillier nights.

DO: Take Advantage of Onboard Activities

If you’re into entertainment, getting pampered at the spa, or simply having a fine meal, Royal Holiday’s cruises will be sure to cater to your needs. One of the best parts of going on a cruise is taking advantage of the onboard life itself. Try thinking about your experience without prioritizing the destinations over the importance of having fun on the way there.

DON’T: Leave Everything to Chance

While you might want to go into your experience with an open mind and no plans, it’s always good to plan for certain possibilities. For instance: Have you packed enough basic travel accessories? Have your brought reading material? Have you packed a swimsuit, lighter clothes, and heavier clothes? The better prepared you are, the better a time you’ll have.

DO: Consider Excursions

Sometimes, you’ll want to take charge and plan out a separate journey once you dock at a certain location. For instance, when you reach the dazzling Fjords of Tierra del Fuego on Royal Holiday’s signature Patagonian cruise, if you want to spend a bit of time doing more serious sight-seeing, that’s something you should know beforehand.

DON’T: Over-plan

Don’t let your expectations get in the way of having an amazing experience. While it’s helpful to know what you want to get out of your vacation, it’s also great to allow things to surprise you. Keep an open mind and a clear head, and you’ll be getting the most of your Royal Holiday cruise vacation.

Where the desert meets the delta – a Botswana Safari

October 18, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

Home to some of the most remarkable landscapes on earth, Botswana ranges from lush delta to arid desert and everything in between. An iconic safari destination for almost 100 years, it’s home to plush camps, remote lodges accessible only by plane and stylish small ships that will take you on a one of a kind river safari. A Botswana safari is truly unique, diverse and unforgettable!

Source

OKAVANGO DELTA

There’s nowhere on earth quite like the Okavango Delta, a Botswana Safari icon. Its swamps and floodplains double in size during the wet season, creating an immense network of interconnecting rivers and lakes that support tens of thousands of animals and birds. Endangered species like cheetah, white rhino and African wild dog roam freely here, having adapted to life in a complex wetland. No two days in the Okavango need be the same, with safaris on foot, on horseback or in a traditional mokoro dugout canoe.

Duba Plains

Duba Plains sits on a private 77,000-acre concession in the middle of the Okavango Delta, surrounded by vast open plains known for dramatic encounters between buffalo and lion. The camp has only just reopened after an extensive refurbishment with five tents and a stylish two-bedroom suite. It’s a relaxed and intimate camp, where each group of guests has their own private guide and butler, and the wine cellar is one of the best in the country.

Vumbura Plains

Split across two satellite camps in the vast Kwedi Concession, Vumbura offers a unique program of both land- and water-based safari experiences. Making use of the delta’s extensive system of waterways, guests can go wildlife spotting from a small boat or traditional mokoro dugout canoe. This mix of habitats means that just about every animal to be found in the Okavango Delta can be seen close to the camp. Each camp has seven rooms (with private plunge pools) set around a central raised lounge and dining area overlooking the ever-changing floodplains.

Beyond Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge

Xudum Lodge sits on the edge of a seasonal lagoon that is home to a resident family of hippo each rainy season. All nine luxurious suites here have a private hideout on the roof, perfect for watching them wallow without being seen. The whole lodge has a relaxed, playful feel with plenty of oversized couches, a tractor tire swing in the trees and an open kitchen where guests can see the chefs at work.

MAKGADIKADI PANS

Botswana is a land of contrasts and from the lush wetlands of the Okavango Delta it changes pace to the vast, arid, stark saltpans of Makgadikadi. Covering some 30,000 square kilometers in the northeast of the Kalahari Reserve and was once one of the world’s largest inland seas. Though it looks desolate, in the wet season in comes alive and you’ll spot zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, lion, cheetah, wild dogs, hyena and tens of thousands of flamingoes. The area has been inhabited for thousands of years, with evidence of Stone Age settlement and fossils at a number of archaeological sites. We are called as African Travel Specialists.

Jacks Camp

In the 1960s, Jack Bousfield stumbled upon a very special spot in the Makgadikadi Plains and was so enraptured that he immediately set up camp. Jack loved this region his entire life and in 2003 his son built Jack’s Camp as an homage to his vision. Ten lavish 1940s-style tents are furnished with Persian rugs and four-poster beds, and the camp is centered around a large canvas pavilion that houses its own natural history museum. Guests can join local Zu/’hoasi Bushmen on guided walks and learn how they eke out a living from this harsh environment.

LINYANTI GAME RESERVE

In the far north along the border of Namibia, Linyanti is something of a forgotten paradise, a largely untouched Botswana safari location. It’s landscapes range from lush wetlands and papyrus-lined lagoons to thick forest and open grasslands. The park is one of the best places in Africa to see the rare African wild dog. These handsome painted pups with huge bat-like ears have been driven to the brink of extinction, yet remain a permanent fixture in the relative remoteness of Linyanti.

Kings Pool Camp

Guests will find it hard to choose their favorite spot at Kings Pool. The curved outdoor lounge and firepit overlooking the watering hole? Or the private plunge pool and gazebo on the deck of their tent? The camp sits in the middle of the region with Africa’s highest density of elephants and they will be regular visitors – there’s even a sunken animal hide to put guests right at elephant-eye level. The nine thatched-roof tents have high ceilings, four poster beds, outdoor showers and private plunge pools. This camp epitomizes the essence of a Botswana safari.

CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

The Chobe River is the beating heart of this huge national park, home to one of the highest concentrations of game to be found anywhere on the continent. Chobe is most famous for its elephants and you’ll fine enormous herds of them wandering amongst rare roan and oribi antelope (among many others). It’s one of Africa’s quintessential safari experiences, promising animals galore, a sky filled with birds, luxurious safari lodges and camps, and unique river cruises within its borders.

Zambezi Queen

Think of the Zambezi Queen as a private travelling camp, albeit one set on water. This small ship holds just 28 passengers and has been specifically designed for safari cruising with an extremely shallow draft that lets it get right up to the riverbank. Guests can wake up to elephants splashing in the shallows right outside their floor to ceiling window, completely undisturbed. It’s an entirely different experienced to a land-based safari and something guests won’t soon forget.

KALAHARI DESERT

Almost one million square kilometers of desert rolls out across Botswana, Namibia and South Africa Safari, creating one of the most arresting landscapes on earth. Though the name comes from the San word for ‘place without water’, the Kalahari is by no means a dry and empty wasteland. It’s an every changing palette of rich red sands, deep dark canyons and startlingly lush watering holes. It’s a place where the skies are endless and the sunsets unforgettable.

Kalahari Plains Camp

Welcome to the middle of nowhere. The ultra remote Kalahari Plains Camp sits in the center of the Kalahari Desert on the edge of an enormous saltpan, so far from civilization that it’s best reached via a small plane. Solar powers runs the lights and heats the water for the eight plush tents, each with an open-air sleepout above where guests can spend the night under the stars. These Botswana safari game drives search out the rare black-maned Kalahari lion and local San bushmen lead interpretive walks.

The Best Alternative Things to See in Florida

September 8, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

Source

If you’re planning a trip to Florida for a vacation, then you’ll most likely be heading to one of the major theme parks that the state is famous for around the world. However, what if you wanted to do something a little different when you arrived? Florida has a lot to offer besides the theme parks, and you can easily find yourselves having some amazing adventures. Here are some of the alternative things to see while you’re there.

Gatorland: The Alligator Capital of the World

If you love nature and animals, then Gatorland has to be worth a visit. Although this is a theme park, it has a lot of attractions that it would be impossible to find anywhere else. There are an amazing 1,200-feet of zip lines that you and the family can use, as well as a train ride through the park and an aviary. There are also daily shows where you can meet some of the alligators, and young visitors can even take part in some rookie gator wrestling.

Airboat Rides

If you’re going to Florida, one of the things you need to do is take a trip on the airboat tours that take place in the central part of the state. They’re great for families, and you can see some of the wonderful wildlife that you can only see by going to Florida. You can take a tour during the day, or you can wait for the sunset tour to get more of the atmosphere.

Hiking

If you’re looking for a more active vacation, then you can always hit one of the many trails scattered around the states national parks. One nice area, in particular, is the trails around Pensacola. It’s the most westerly city in Florida, and it’s part of a small sea port that was originally inhabited by native Americans. It has a long Naval history going back to 1914 and is still has troops stationed there. As well as some music festivals and events, the hiking is also varied. You can take one of the many green and pleasant routes down to Crystal Lake to check out the tranquil Pensacola, FL apartments.

Orlando Tours

If you want to see more of Florida’s capital city, then there’s no better way than by going on a city tour. There are air-conditioned coaches that can take you around the ‘City Beautiful’ as it’s called. You can see Lake Eola, the vibrant downtown area with its cafes and bars, and the Mennello Museum of American Art. Depending on when you go, there are also many events and festivals that take place throughout the year. Many people don’t take the time to visit the capital, but there are many things to explore for all the family.

You can find many other wonderful places to visit in Florida. The weather is almost always good, so it lends itself to the outdoor pursuits. Whatever part you decide to visit, you’ll certainly have fun.

San Diego goes craft beer crazy!

August 31, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

If you’re visiting San Diego, be sure to check out its thriving craft beer scene! Like loads of other places around the world, it’s getting a taste for these new flavours in brewing. San Diego now boasts more than 140 breweries and lots of areas have become hubs for craft beer lovers. If you fancy trying some out, head for the uptown neighbourhoods of North Park and South Park. Cheers!

What is craft beer?

Craft beers are being produced by independent breweries – offering different tastes and products from the traditional, mainstream ones.

As well as extra brews, different tastes, one of the big selling points is that they come from smaller, local breweries. Drinkers like to know they’re supporting a local business and, as a result, those who are running and working for it.

Craft beer – San Diego style!

If you’re looking for fun things to do in San Diego, head to the North Park and South Park neighbourhoods and you’ll find streets filled with all sorts of places to eat and drink – including craft beer pubs!

In hipster North Park, the area to head for is the intersection of University Avenue and 30th Street. It’s billed as the “best beer neighbourhood in the nation.”

Why? Well take a stroll around here and you’ll see plenty of craft-beer pubs and beer-loving restaurants to catch your taste buds in a frenzy. There’s even some breweries and tasting rooms to whet your palette!

Some of the places recommended to check out include Toronado and Tiger! Tiger! And it’s not all about beer – and that will be music to some people’s ears! There are also craft cocktails in full flow in North Park. Check out Bar Pink and Seven Grand if you’ve got yourself a taste for these.

Away from the beer and cocktails, North Park also offers some great places to eat and shop. There’s also an arts scene, including dozens of galleries in Ray Street.

A taste of the South

The South Park neighbourhood is also a favourite with craft beer lovers. You might want to check out the Hamilton’s Tavern. It’s won some high praise, being described as the “best beer bar” on the West Coast!

But it, like its North counterpart, offers lots more besides more. Make a visit, and you’ll also stumble across indie shops and galleries. And, for a foodie treat, check out some of the restaurants. There’s a big focus here on organic produce and sustainable meats and seafood.

South Park also hosts different events. Among them is the Walkabout, held quarterly. If you’re about when this is on, you’ll find shops and restaurants opening their doors until late – with some special deals and discounts thrown in for good measure!

Getting to North Park and South Park

You need to head for 30th Street. From downtown, follow Park Avenue to the north, going through Balboa Park and then turn east on University Avenue.

Once in the area, you can get around on foot – a bike makes it easier to get across the north-south route. But there’s also a good bus service, which runs along along 30th Street, stopping off near many of the best drinking places.

Rome’s Colosseum – all you need to know

August 17, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

Say Rome to most people and they’ll think of all sorts of things – great food, stunning architecture and fascinating history. For sure, it’s got to go on your bucket-list. There’s loads to see and do in the Italian capital – you can do most things in a day but a longer city break would the best option to absorb all that Rome offers.

Rome is home, of course, to one of the New Wonders of the World – the Colosseum, or the Colosseo, as it’s known locally. And if you’re in town, it’s well worth a visit. Here’s all you need to know about landmark that’s known the world over.

It’s a ‘wow’ attraction

It may not be in perfect condition, but what’s left of Rome’s Colosseum is still awe-inspiring. The massive, dominating structure is one of the New Wonders of the World – having been voted for by 90 million people. A team of experts had a good think about it and decided it was a ‘masterpiece of unquestionable value’ – loved by Romans and visitors alike.

When you walk up to the Colosseum, you won’t fail to be stunned. Standing beside it, you can really imagine what it would have been like in its day, and the sounds that would have come from it. The round structure could bring in massive crowds around its central arena.

Not just big – it’s the largest of its kind

In its day, the Colosseum had four rows with 80 arcades. Each one of those had 70,000 seats. Imagine how many people altogether. The best way to get an idea of this is to take a Colosseum Arena Floor tour.

It’s the largest amphitheater in the world. A huge monument, that’s gone on to remain a symbol of Rome’s past. And it’s why so many visitors flock to it every year to see this wonder of ancient architecture – and why it’s also so loved by modern day Romans as well.

The famous gladiators…

Go to the Colosseum and you’ll no doubt see a gladiator or two – well, not real ones, but guys dressed up as them, and who are happy to pose for a tourist photo if you line their hand with euros. They’re a symbol of the Colosseum’s lively and infamous past.

The Flavian Amphitheatre, which was built by Emperor Vespasian, was where games happened in ancient Rome. Of course, they were the scene of gladiator fights. These usually involved prisoners of war or slaves – the aim was to win their freedom.

There were also re-enactments of naval battles on artificial lakes. Julius Caesar first brought up the idea, but it was Titus who first brought the display to the Colosseum – with water coming into the arena and outside of it.

Getting there

You’ll find the Colosseum at Piazza del Colosseo 1 in Rome and it’s open every day. You can reach it by taking a bus, there are many of them so check local listings. You can also take Tram number 3 and Metro Line B, to the ‘Colosseo’ stop.

The Top Hiking Trails You Can Try in The United States

August 17, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

Source

If you like hiking and you enjoy activity vacations, then you will love the idea of hiking a trail in some of the most amazing scenery in the world. Whatever your skill level or how long you want to hike, there is a trail designed for you.

No matter where you are in the country, you can find challenging and easy-going trails not far from you. It is the beauty of traveling through North America, and in many places, there is more to do than just hiking.

Pacific Crest Trail

This trail spans an impressive 2,650 miles and winds its way from Mexico all the way to Canada. Because it is such a long trail, you will encounter many different climates from arid desert to glaciated valleys.

Of course, you don’t have to walk its entire length, however, once you start walking the trail, it will be difficult to think about stopping due to the ever-changing scenery.

Sunshine to Mt Assiniboine

One of the best trails in Canada, the Sunshine to Mt Assiniboine takes you through the Canadian Rockies. You will walk through beautiful alpine meadows covered in colorful flowers, and you can see a diverse wildlife population.

Along the way, you can catch a glimpse of Canadas mighty Matterhorn which reaches a height of 11,870 feet.

Cirque of the Towers

The Cirque of the Towers is a series of jagged rocks and spires found in the Wind River Range in Wyoming. It has some wonderful alpine terrain that campers will enjoy, and it also has high peaks and glacial lakes that hikers will love.

There is a 2-4-day looped trail that takes in some of the most beautiful features of these peaks, however, if you don’t want to camp out overnight, you can always stay at one of the lovely hotels such as the White Buffalo Club Hotel in Jackson Hole.

Angels Landing

The Angels Landing rock formations in Zion National Park, Utah rises to a height of 1,488 feet and has some of the most stunning scenery you could imagine. A 2.5-mile trail was cut into the rock back in 1926 and takes you all the way to the top of the Angels. From here, you can see the Canyon below and the amazing rock formations.

The trail will be a challenge, however, and certainly isn’t for those who are afraid of heights, as the last section has sheer drop-offs and steep banks.

Coppers Canyon Trail

The Copper Canyon Trail is a group of six canyons in the center of Mexico’s Tarahumara Mountains. The highly colored copper and green walls span an impressive 37,000-miles and are a hiker’s dream.

You can experience some of the cultures of Mexico while you are walking as you will meet communities of Raramuris or Tarahumara, who are the indigenous people of the area.

These are a few of the many trails that run all over North America. Not only will you have a challenging hike, but you will also see some amazing sights.

5 types of vacations that will help you to challenge yourself

August 17, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

For some people, holidays are all about rest and relaxation. However, for those people who love to challenge themselves, holidays can be the perfect opportunity to do this. There is something about being in a different location, surrounded by a new culture, and stepping away from the usual routine of day to day life, which can lead to self-reflection. Embrace this feeling. Use your next vacation as an opportunity to push yourself. Don’t just follow the crowd, make your trip a life-changing experience that you will never forget. Below are five types of vacations that will help you to challenge yourself.

Book an exercise boot camp

Perhaps you are already an exercise enthusiast, or perhaps you have given up on the idea of ever getting fit. Either way, an exercise boot camp is a perfect option for you. Why not sign up with a number of your most supportive friends? Instead of putting aside a couple of hours a week for exercise, you will have dedicated an entire block of time. This will be difficult at first, but eventually, you will reap the rewards.

Reach for the skies

The sky’s the limit with this next idea. If you are looking to challenge yourself both physically and mentally, you should try climbing Kilimanjaro. This is a fantastic way to explore a different part of the world. Reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro is the kind of experience that will stay with you forever. Every time that you struggle with self-confidence, you will be able to remind yourself of this mammoth achievement.

Go on a yoga retreat

Do you find it difficult to stay calm? Are you frequently plagued with nerves and anxiety? If so, you should challenge yourself to truly relax. Going on a yoga retreat will force you to push yourself mentally. It will help to improve your breathing, your flexibility, and your self-awareness. Many yoga retreats insist that their visitors disconnect themselves from all technology, follow a specific schedule, and completely alter their diet. These changes will be challenging, but they will teach you something about yourself.

Obtain your scuba certificate

Most people return from holiday with a fridge magnet or a key chain. You could return with a highly respected qualification! If you love to explore the underwater world, you should definitely consider trying for your scuba certificate. This will allow you to progress to more challenging dives. It could also give you the opportunity to become an instructor. Instead of completing the course locally, why not schedule it in for your next vacation?

Learn a new language

Rather than picking up a few key words or phrases, you should use your vacation as the perfect chance to learn a new language. Take a course, read a book, or listen to tapes, in preparation. Then, when you go abroad, try to interact with the locals. They will be impressed by your efforts to respect their culture. Even though you may be tempted to throw in a few words of English, try to challenge yourself not to.

Hotels to Visit Before You Die

July 13, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

Hotels are one of those places where most of us will ultimately spend far longer than we ever thought we would intend to. Whether they’re part of a short getaway, a brief stop on a globe-trotting adventure, or part of a romantic escape with a loved one, hotels play a unique role in the lives of those from all over the world and through just about every culture.

Some hotels stand out for their historical value. In countries such as the United Kingdom, many a still standing inn or tavern once provided rest and shelter to the highest nobility of the land. Others boast distinctive architectural features that set them apart from the local landscape and make them prominent tourist attractions.
