If you have some travels coming up then I cannot stress enough just how important it is that you do all that you can to save up before you go. Money equals better experiences on the road and that chance to do far more things and whatever you are able to do whilst you are still at home, the better. Even if you plan on working whilst you are on the road, it still makes sense to build up a war chest before you go so that you will be secure in the knowledge that whatever happens with your job, you will still be able to travel to your heart’s content. If you are saving up, here are some ways to get the most money possible.
Credit Cards
Saving up is not just about getting cash together and one of the things that you should be doing is using your credit card regularly now, so that you have plenty of points ready for when you go away. Before I left home I regularly used my Blue Cash Everyday card so that when I hit the road, I could really reap the benefits of the reward system which it has. If you don’t yet have a credit card, I’d advise that you get one and start using it so that you can have plenty of benefits for your travels.
Stop Spending
It is not just about earning more when it comes to saving up for your travels, you should also be focussing very hard on reducing you spending. In order to do this best, you should place some reminders such as photos or written words inside your purse or wallet to remind you of what you are going to see on the road. Doing this will mean that every time someone wants to go out for some food or a drink, and you have to say no, you will be reminded of exactly why.
Selling Stuff
We can all be guilty of hoarding from time to time and it is important that if you really want to have the very best time when you go traveling, that you sell some of the things which you own, that you probably don’t need. It has never been easier to sell your goods than in today’s world of eBay and Amazon and if you are serious about traveling, you should spend a day rooting around your closets and start getting rid of those unnecessary items.
Working
Aside from cutting down on your spending, the single best way to save up for your travels is through a hard work ethic and you should be working you fingers to the bone to get enough money for you journey. This may mean getting a second job or working overtime and you will be tired and you will be frustrated, but just keep the big picture in mind.
