Why Office Decor Matters, and How Can You Improve Your Office’s Decor?

February 20, 2018 By Admin Leave a Comment

Thinking about an office without people? It is as absurd as thinking about the earth without air. Regardless of the type and size of the office, it starts with employees (people) and ends with customers, clients, and guests (people). As such, your office design must pivot around this human element for growth and success of the business. Creating a strong first impression goes a long way in developing business relation, and lack of that is sure to deliver the opposite result.

Office decoration plays a very vital role in running the business. When you give a stylish makeover to your commercial setting, it enhances the perception of the people about your business.  Mind, a clean and well-maintained office tells a lot about the quality, class, and efficiency of the business. Office decor can also bring in outstanding business growth. Several studies conducted, on the effect of environment on human behavior, strongly suggest that physical environment has significant impacts on happiness and productivity of the employee. The studies also indicate that well-decorated offices have less absenteeism.

Talking about the office design, we always think about the big names like Google, Microsoft, and Apple etc. who made revolutionary changes in their office design to make them more human-friendly for achieving the best results.  However, you need not always spend millions on design and decoration of the office for reaping the best benefits. Making some creative changes also pays great a dividend. Here is some office design changing ideas that you may follow to start with.

Make the boards decorative

Every office needs to keep a fair number of notes and memos posted in the office.  While this is essential for running the show, containing hard facts and instructions, such boards become a dull and drab spot in the office and damage the overall look of the office. As boards cannot be avoided, why it cannot be done in style? Plenty of beautifully designed whiteboards and chalkboards are available. Have one of them installed to change the look. Additionally, you may also introduce a dream board where employees can display their thoughts and hopes for the growth of the organization.

Organizing everything is the key

Having a place for everything and keeping everything in place, is the best way for making an office impressive. You should also clear clutter. This does not mean that you have to toss everything out. Arrange those for improving the decoration.

Light, light, and lights can do havoc

Natural light is great for boosting up the office decor. Design the office in such a way that it can exploit the maximum natural light available. Installing large glass windows are the best option for allowing the daylight in. You can also add more windows for capitalizing on natural light. Other than this, you must also optimize the lighting in the office. Better, get rid of those conventional overhead fluorescent lights and introduce zonal lighting. Opting for indirect lighting also helps to improve the office decoration and makes it energy efficient.

Make everything comfortable

Comfort should be given the priority. All sofas and chairs should be comfortable so that people can work with pleasure. The furniture should also be ergonomically designed to support the spine for reaping the best output.  Also, ensure that the monitors are at level with eyes and the keyboards are placed at a comfortable height. To add a most modern look, you can also include standing desks in the office.

Bring the outdoors in

Being biological creature, humans are greatly affected by nature. As far as practicable, make sitting arrangements facing the windows so that people can have a glimpse of the outside landscape. Installing wall-to-wall anti-glare glass window are great for this purpose. Where this is not possible, hang nice scenery on the wall a with window frame that will let you have a fake window with natural effect and improve the office ambiance.

Create a breakout area

No matter what is the size of your office, a breakout area helps to improve the interior. Mark a space in the office where people can discuss problems and do brainstorming for finding solutions. It could be a separate room outside the working zone, or you can define a space for this with area rugs and matching furniture. Include accent pillows to impart the feeling of a home away from home. Creating a nature-inspired breakout area in the office also makes it chic and classy.

Create illusion of space

Majority of the urban offices suffer from space crunch. Mirrors can make the office look more spacious and also help to improve the illumination.  Installing wall-to-wall mirrors will take the office decoration to the next level.

Take care of the floors

Having a nice and functional floor makes an office impressive.  Consider revamping the floors with stone and ceramic tiles. You may paint cement floors and cover it with carpet for improving the office decor.  If noise happens to be an issue in your office, the carpet will help to reduce the noise level.

Decorate the walls

Walls not only confine the office space, but those also help to cater the office. When taken care, walls can act as a great canvas and add to the beauty of the interior. If you are not constructing an office from zero, it is likely that walls will have blemishes. Other than opting for repairing, you can also choose to improve the walls with wall panels.  The great advantage of the 3D wall panels is that these can be installed easily and once installed the custom wall panels jazz up the place.

Plenty of decorative panels are available made of a wide range of core materials including MDF, Gypsum, and Metal. Available in bespoke modular designs, these textured decorative panels build up an amazing office environment.  Wall paneling also offers great protection to the walls. These provide both thermal and acoustic insulation besides up-scaling the aesthetic beauty. Since these can be cleaned easily, they offer a cost-effective solution for revamping the office decor.

Cut Employment Cost With POS Systems

June 6, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

I live in a nation where job opportunities are aplenty for front line workers especially in the food and beverages sectors but manpower is lacking. Many of our young people have gone overseas in search of greener pastures. Our business sectors have been depending largely on foreign workers to fill these vacancies but recently, there is a reduction in the intake of foreign workers. Some businesses for example like the food and beverages business have temporary closed down when their foreign workers’ permit were not extended. Because of this and the other reasons, many businesses have suffered loss.

The insufficient supply of manpower to the business sector have driven many business owners to turn to POS machines as a solution to replace the lack of manpower.  Depending on the scale of the business, setting up and running with an efficient personalized POS system will definitely help reduce your dependency on manpower. Running with less manpower helps to reduce cost because the POS system takes over most of the running of the business.

With a personalized POS system, you will only need one front line staff at the payment counter to handle table reservations, takeaways, receiving food orders and payment transactions. With the cutting down of the number of staffs, you also save back on the cost of staff employment.

In some businesses outlets, customers can place their orders through the e-order tablets set up at the table where they are seated. Some outlets even set up e-booths outside their stalls for ordering and payment of food before they approach the food counter to be served. The younger generations adapted easily to this e-order systems where they can take their time with their orders without the waiters or waitresses hovering over them.

If you are currently facing a problem with insufficient manpower to keep your business running, and if you are interested to know more about the various types of POS systems available but not sure of what is suitable for your business, you can contact MerchantAccountSolutions.com for professional help and recommendation.

Flying Business Class for the First Time: A Beginner’s Guide

You never forget your first time flying business class on an international flight. The champagne, the lie-flat seats, the the VIP treatment – business class is a whole new level when it comes to air travel. Like a kid in a sweet shop, it’s difficult to decide whether you’d rather sleep in your lie-flat bed or sit up and order just about everything from the menu.

But it can also be a little bit daunting if you have no idea what to expect, so here are a few things to know before you book your flights.

Booking Business Class Flights

If you want to fly business class for the first time but can’t justify the price tag, you’ll be pleased to know that there are companies offering unlisted fares that are much more affordable than booking online. SkyClub.com sells cheap business class tickets privately to customers – just give them a call and they’ll usually quote a better fare.

Dress Code

These days the dress code for flying business class tends to be rather relaxed so you can wear pretty much anything, but ‘smart casual’ tends to be the general consensus amongst airlines. If you’ve paid top dollar for a business class ticket it’s unlikely they’d comment on what you’re wearing – just don’t attempt to board the plane barefoot or wearing a T-shirt that displays offensive language.

Pre-flight

Airlines like Virgin Atlantic and Emirates offer business class customers a chauffeur driven car service to whisk you to the airport in style. Virgin Atlantic even has its own Upper Class Terminal so you can get from the curbside to the lounge within minutes!

Business class comes with a whole host of perks such as extra luggage allowance, dedicated check-in desks, priority lanes and lounge access, so try to make full use of your time at the airport.

Lounges

Some airlines have dedicated lounges while others will make use of another airline’s lounge, so check what lounges you have access to.

Inside the lounge you can usually help yourself to drinks and snacks, take a shower, connect to Wi-Fi and even enjoy a full a la carte meal before you board the plane. If you fly business class on British Airways for instance then you can enjoy a free treatment in the Elemis Travel Spa so you’re fully relaxed before heading to the gate.

In-flight

Once you board the aircraft that’s when things really get exciting. Forget about cramped seats and plastic trays – business class is all about flat-bed seats and proper tableware!

Most international business flights these days have private suite-like pods where you can stretch out and relax. The seats tend to have lots of buttons and little storage spaces, so if you’re not quite sure what everything does, don’t be afraid to ask! Usually a member of cabin crew will come round the cabin before take-off to offer you a glass of champagne or juice and a newspaper.

The amenity kit is always a real treat, and will usually contain things like luxury skincare products, perfume, an eye mask, toothbrush and toothpaste. In business class on Qatar Airways you’re even presented with luxury pyjamas from The White Company so you can get really comfy during the flight.

After take-off you’ll be served a multi-course meal accompanied by a selection of fine wines and spirits. You can indulge in as many things as you like, so the food and drinks will keep on coming. Some airlines will let you dine on demand, while others will have a set meal time.

If you’re travelling on an overnight flight and just want to sleep then you can use the express service where you’ll be served a light meal and a flight attendant will wake you up just before landing.

But if you’ve never flown business class before it’s likely you’ll be too excited to sleep, so you might want to spend the flight watching movies. Forget peering into a tiny screen – in business class you’ll have an ultra-large flat screen TV complete with noise cancelling headphones for your own private cinema-style experience.

Arrival

On arrival sometimes you’ll have access to an arrivals lounge where you can take a shower or have your clothes pressed before a meeting. As a business class customer your bags will usually come off the plane first and if you’re travelling through a major airport you may have your own priority lane when you get to customs and immigration. It’s always best to check with your particular airline though before you fly.

Flying business class for the first time is such an experience and one that you won’t forget in a hurry. It may be more expensive than an economy ticket but if you can collect air miles or purchase a discounted ticket then it’s truly worth it just for a decent night’s sleep and a memorable journey.
