Kerry, Ireland

Ireland is a country with a rich heritage, that spans far beyond the tourist areas of its capital Dublin. Kerry sits towards the southwest of Ireland and is packed full of lush green landscapes and rugged coastlines. The quaint town of Listowel holds a literary festival every year that brings authors from across the globe into its colourful streets. Another must-see highlight is the Ring of Kerry, which involves a scenic drive around the Iveragh Peninsula. For mature travellers who want to explore somewhere close to their doorstep, Kerry should be your first port of all.

California, United States

The United States offers every kind of holiday, as it contains everything from mountainous terrain to golden beaches. Though it is California that arguably offers some of the best experiences for senior travellers. In the north, you have San Francisco and the nearby Napa Valley wine region. Make your way down the coast, and you’ll find the likes of Malibu and Santa Monica. Life in California is all about enjoying the great outdoors, as well as experiencing fresh, delicious food that is like nowhere else in America.

Split, Croatia

Nestled along the Adriatic Sea is the city of Split in Croatia. It’s an area that is steeped in history, with ancient ruins dating back to the Roman Empire. The city is awash with stunning beaches too, which are equally enjoyed on a coastal walk as they are in person. Split is an ideal destination for those who love to discover and get off the beaten track. All while taking things at a slower, relaxed pace. One of the best ways to explore Split is through a river cruise, as these offer plenty of excursions, as well as the best views of the city.

Zurich, Switzerland

Zurich is a city that’s primarily known for being a financial hub. However, it’s also been ranked as one of the best places to live in the world. The Limmat River runs through the middle of the city, and on either side, you’ll find an abundance of museums and shops. The architecture is also particularly impressive, with The Fraumünster Church dating back to the 9th century. German is the most commonly used language in Zurich, but as English is widely understood here too, this makes it very accessible to travellers from lots of different nations.

Awesome Experiences Which You Need On Your Bucket List

July 23, 2019 By Admin Leave a Comment

Do you have a bucket list? If not then it is time to put one together, an awesome list of experiences which you’ll aim to accomplish before you proverbially ‘kick the bucket’. If you do have a bucket list then we have got some amazing experiences which you need to add on to that list, if you don’t have them already.

A bucket list should be a lifelong endeavor, after all trying to complete them in a short space of time is going to be pretty expensive and take up a hell of a lot of your time. The key to a great bucket list is quality rather than quantity, less items but ones which you will never forget. Flying around the world to complete your travel bucket list is likely to get expensive so be sure to check out JustFly.com who always have the lowest rates on flight prices. Without further ado then, here are the items which you need to get on your bucket list.

Northern Lights

The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis to give their scientific name, are a truly natural wonder of the world which will blow your mind. As electrons smash together in the sky they begin to glow in colors of red, blue and white and cause whips of color to dance across the sky. You can see the Northern Lights in a number of places around the world such as Alaska, Canada, Sweden, Norway and Iceland to name just a few.

Gates of Hell

The name alone sounds good enough reason to add this to your bucket list, and in truth you’ll feel just like you are standing at the actual gates of hell when you visit this phenomenon in Turkmenistan. Found in the Karakum desert this 230 foot wide hole was caused after a Russian drilling rig accidentally smashed a hole into the Earth, the hole began leaking gas and in their wisdom the Russians set fire to the hole, with the intention of burning off the gas. Well that same hole has been burning now for 40 years and isn’t showing any signs of stopping. For an even cooler experience, take some marshmallows with you, we aren’t kidding!

Devil’s Pool

Another satanic-themed item is the Devil’s Pool, an experience only for the brave and one which you will never forget. This pool sits at the top of Victoria Falls in Zambia, one of the biggest waterfalls on the planet. Many rock pools have formed at the top of the waterfall and despite the thousands of tonnes of water which cascade down each and every second, the rock pools are relatively tranquil. If you are bold enough then you can head to the Devil’s Pool and peer over the edge of the 108 meter drop.

Macau Tower Bungee Jump

Bungee jumping is something which everyone seems to have on their list but to take things to the next level, why not head to Macau Tower in Macau, China, the highest bungee jump in the world? Instead of dropping a meer 100 feet, why not jump into the sky and drop 500 instead? That’s what you can expect from this heart-stopping bungee jump, putting to shame anyone who thought  that a simple bridge jump was enough to qualify as a bucket list item.

Volcano Boarding

Skiing, surfing and skateboarding are fun activities but not quite worthy of a spot on a real bucket list, but volcano boarding most certainly is. In Nicaragua near Leon, you will find the volcano locally known as Cerro Negro. It is here that you can sit down on a slim board of wood, and put your life into the hands of the gods as you launch yourself down the edge of the volcano, hoping to reach the bottom in one piece. Reaching speeds of up to 40mph you will skate over the volcanic rock, clinging on for dear life to a small rope which is fixed to your sled. Now that is a bucket list item!

Hit The Seven Wonders

Some people will feature one or two of the world’s Seven Wonders, but instead of that why not look to see all of them. Here is the list if you are unsure.

  • Machu Pichu – Peru
  • Great Wall of China
  • Taj Mahal – India
  • Colosseum – Italy
  • Chichen Itza – Mexico
  • Christ the Redeemer – Brazil
  • Petra – Jordan

Some tick off a couple of these, go for them all for a proper bucket list challenge.

Which of these do you most fancy adding to your bucket list?

Why should Agra (India) be on your bucket list

June 17, 2017 By Admin Leave a Comment

People make their bucket lists according to their own preferences and what attracts them the most in a location. There is no wrong way to do it. Only you can establish the criteria because you are the one who knows yourself best. It is pretty logical. However, you must always be open for recommendations. Broadening your horizons is the best thing you could do as a traveler, which is why you should hear more about Agra.

Chances are you already know about this city in India. Everyone knows what is there to explore. If not, then you should know that Agra hosts one of the biggest love monuments in the world, the Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The monument is, in fact, the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. UNESCO declared the structure a World Heritage Site stating that it is the ‘jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage.’ It is not difficult to see why. The place is an architectural wonder and a small piece of heaven. The gardens are spectacular, and the sights are amazing. Keep in mind that the area may get crowded sometimes. Taj Mahal has millions of visitors every year. However, do not let that steal the opportunity of admiring one of the most beautiful structures in the world.

Apart from Taj Mahal, Agra has other beauties you can enjoy. One of them is the Agra Fort. The structure is not as imposing and impressive as the Taj Mahal, but it is definitely worth visiting. The place holds many stories, but it would be best if you hire a guide to enlighten you on the building’s history. The sights are beautiful, and you can enjoy a nice view from the top. People say that the Agra Fort is a complimentary attraction in the city, although it would be best to enjoy it without comparing it to Taj Mahal. Otherwise, you can spoil the experience.

Sheesh Mahal is inside the Agra Fort, but there is something special about it that makes it a main attraction. The walls and ceiling are covered in mirrors. Small pieces of mirror, in fact. The glass palace was built by Shah Jahan as well. The mirror is said to be brought from Syria. The design is marvelous, and you will be mesmerized by the details of the place. There is nothing like it in the entire world. Do not leave the Agra Fort without seeing the Sheesh Mahal.

Agra should be on everyone’s bucket list. As a traveler, you cannot go through life without seeing the Taj Mahal at least once. The trip is affordable; you can do it on a budget, like most travelers. Not to mention that getting a visa is extremely easy. All you need is an Indian e-visa, and you can enter the country through one of the 24 airports and three seaports. All you need is a valid passport and a few other things. You can also get passport photos online if you think it is necessary. There is little effort on your part. All you have to do is book that flight and pack a bag.
