Are you the person who is constantly jetting off somewhere far-flung and exciting, but you always seem to dread returning to the monotonous routine of the Monday to Friday when you get home? If this sounds like you, you aren’t alone, and we have a few suggestions on making the transition a bit easier when you get back.

Spicing up the Space

One of the best ways to get more excited about coming home is to have an absolutely fantastic place to come back to. Have you considered getting a couple of upgrades recently, but just haven’t gotten around to it? Sprucing up your home can be a great way to make sure you look forward to setting your bags down in your own space again! Perhaps upgrading your kitchen or bathroom with glass and stone tile for a really luxurious look can help, alongside a few more suggestions.

Comparative Luxury (to on the road!)

If you have been on the road for awhile in some relatively off the beaten trail places, it can be an beautiful, and welcome sight to have designed your perfect bathroom. Having a proper shower or toilet again, instead of a hole in the floor and a pipe sticking out of the wall (believe me, it happens!) can go a long way to making you feel fantastic. Upgrading your bathroom can really help make it a place you want to return to – knowing the relative luxury that awaits after weeks on the road. PlumbTile has some fantastic bathroom solutions, including toilets, bathroom sinks and bath and shower ideas, for all budgets and tastes.

After all that hard travelling it feels amazing to return to a luscious and comfortable space with a bit of classiness added in for extra measure. So on your next trip, remember that you will be returning to a fantastic space to call your own! So get out and enjoy your adventures – have fun!

Tired of Traveling Alone? Find Buddies With These Tips

July 15, 2016 By Admin Leave a Comment

Traveling is one of the most liberating experiences that anyone can have, traversing the globe with a backpack on, not knowing what tomorrow will bring and seeing the best of what this planet has to offer. Many people decide to make trips like these alone and doing this can provide complete flexibility, the autonomy to do what you like and when you like is brilliant, not having to make your decisions based on someone else’s opinion and the only person that you are responsible for is you. There are times however when traveling alone can lose some of its appeal, sharing experiences for example is far better than doing them on your own and there are times when you simply need a friend on the road. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, being lonely on the road can be resolved very quickly and here are some great tips to help you buddy up.

2794696925_c3521a923e_b

Social Media

The clue is in the title here ‘social’, if you are looking for some friends to go traveling with then join as many travel groups on sites like Facebook as you can, share on the groups where you will be heading or where you would like to go and connect with others who want to do the same. The same goes for finding friends in various cities, there are countless groups for people living abroad and they can give you a great opportunity to meet with them and discuss your travels together.

Meet Ups

There are several websites out there that offer you the chance to create meet ups or join in with one that someone else has created. These can be general meet ups for ex-pats and travelers or sometimes more specific meet ups based on hobbies. These are a great way to meet new and like-minded people for you to spend some time with and maybe even make great friends.

United We Stand

Regardless of what you may think, you are probably not the only solo traveler who wants some company and spending a little time online can help you find those looking for a friend. Try out travel blogs for people who are in the same city as you, contact them and ask if they want to meet up, don’t stop at one, look to create a bit of a group and maybe you could go on a holiday with solo travelers like you if you all click together. What better way to travel than with people who love travel and are looking for some company.

Don’t be Shy

The last thing that you should be if traveling solo is shy, whilst it is important to be guarded when traveling alone, being timid could lose you the opportunity to meet people. There is nothing wrong with enjoying your own space and freedom but full-time solo travel can be lonely so you need to try to avoid it. Shyness should also be avoided when it comes to keeping in contact with people that you have met, relationships with new friends and acquaintances should be nurtured, you never know when you will meet again.

6 Tips to Help You Find Glasses That Suit Your Face the Best

May 9, 2016 By Admin Leave a Comment

choose_sunglasses

Buying a new pair of glasses can be a daunting task. However, with these six tips you are sure to find a pair that suits your face the best.

Know your Style

The first thing you have to think about before getting a new pair of glasses is your style. Are you trendy? Casual? If you want an every day pair of glasses that will suit your face, they have to match what you wear on a daily basis. Also, consider where you will be wearing these glasses. Are you looking for an every day pair of glasses, ones for the office, or ones for going out? This will help determine what style of frame you need for your face.

Know Your Colors

Know what colours are best for your skin tone. For example, if you are pale, it’s probably best to use darker colours. Keep in mind what colours you normally wear so you are not clashing with your clothes or accessories.

Know your Face-Shape

It is really important to know what the shape of your face is before trying on glasses. For example, on a woman, if you have full cheeks, a rounded chin, and equal distance vertically and horizontally you have a round face. Knowing this when you go in to try on glasses, will help the glasses-expert know which styles to recommend to you.

Know Your Budget

Also understanding your budget before going glass shopping, will give you more options. Obviously, the more money you have available the more options you will have. It is also good to check with your eye insurance or medical provider to see what frames you are eligible for. This applies when purchasing sunglasses or daily eyewear.

Bring a Friend

When shopping in-person for glasses, it is good to bring a friend or someone who knows your face really well. They can give you some advice when trying on frames keeping in mind this should be one of your more honest friends who will not be afraid to tell you if a frame looks bad.

Try a Home Try-On Service

If you do not have time to go glasses shopping in-person, try a home try-on service. You can have all kinds of styles sent to your home, including Tom Ford glasses that you can try on in the comfort of your home. Not only can you send back the frames you do not like, but you can see how your glasses suit your face in every day situations.

Whether buying a new pair of glasses for every day use or something fun you can wear while going out, it is important to buy a pair of glasses that suit your face. Understanding your style, what you need, and your budget is important background information to know before trying on frames. When you do try them on, determine a frame that is appropriate for your face shape and have a friend approve it.

Tips to make your travel easy with little ones

April 29, 2016 By Admin Leave a Comment

Are you planning for an international vacation with your little ones? For most of us, the idea of flying with kids is the biggest cause of stress. The very prospect of keeping your children seated, quiet, and happy for hours and while on move can be quite difficult. All you need is a bit of careful organisation and trip planning according to your kids needs so that you can keep everyone in a better mood.

Travel tips

Here are few helpful tips for making travel with infants easier and not a dreaded experience if you follow these travel tips.

  • Allow your kids to select a destination he/she wants to visit if your child is young enough to do so. Otherwise try and choose kids-friendly destinations that boasts of exclusive kids zone, kids clubs, pools and adventurous facilities.
  • At the day of journey, make sure to reach the airport early since its a time consuming process to get through the airport security checks.
  • Make sure to pack all your essential itinerary and a map of your destination in your hand bag
  • Carry special travelling toys when you need to survive long flights. Things like coloured pencils, sticker books, and a book of games can also be very helpful to keep your little ones occupied for quite some long time.
  • Travel Tips
  • Pack all essential items like weather appropriate clothing for your kid, diapers, wet wipes, snacks, a stroller and few favourite things of your children. So before packing your toddlers bag, make a checklist of packing things in advance, so you don’t miss out on anything important.
  • Ensure to bring your own prescription medicines for fever, cough and allergies along with a first-aid kit for emergencies that might happen during travelling.
  • Ask your travelling partner to go ahead and pack away cabin baggage on the plane.
  • Try to board the plane last so that the kids don’t panic seeing the confined space for longer time.
  • You can also hire a babysitter throughout the vacation or for just one day but make sure to spend quality time with your little ones as holidays are an opportunity to make beautiful memories.
  • Ensure to search for an holiday rental unit or a serviced apartment on rent to stay in comfort with your family. Apartments are fully-furnished and are much spacious than hotel rooms. Your kids can also play in the open space and without disturbing anyone.
  • Before leaving , make a rough schedule for each day, which is flexible enough to take in the unexpected experiences. This will help you plan several activities for your child accordingly with ease.

Travelling with a little ones might require little organisation and planning, but it is all worth it in the end. Plan in that way that your family experience should be worth remembering for all the right reasons!

Top 3 Tips for Adding a Dose of Luxury to Your Journey

February 17, 2016 By Admin Leave a Comment

Luxury travel is not something that we can all afford to do and even though the opposite is often far more exciting than a pampered journey away, there are times that a dose of luxury is required. Money is usually the dominant factor here and even for those that can afford a journey filled with luxurious experiences, we very rarely want to part with cash on such fanciful things. As I said however, a little piece of luxury here and there can work wonders and here a 4 ways that you can sprinkle a little bit of it on your travels.

The Last Supper

Unknown

One thing I always like to do, on the final night of my journey, is to eat somewhere very upmarket and delicious. I always like to eat in nice places and will do exactly that during my travels but the last night is where I will really go all out. I often plan this before I leave home by researching online for the best restaurants in my destination, the Michelin Guide is great for this and I have eaten in some phenomenal places. The beauty of planning before you go is that you can often see the menu and have an idea for how much to set aside for you Last Supper. What better way to finish a trip than with some amazing cuisine.

Upgrade

Receiving an upgrade on your trip is not by any means a certainty but I have had a good success rate in the past with this. The most important thing here is asking the question. When you check into to your flight, ask the member of staff at the check-in desk if there are any upgrades available, they may not be free but often they’ll have some space in a better class for a smaller fee. Do the same thing when you get to your hotel, this is where I’ve had most success and some of the rooms that I’ve been upgraded to have been beautiful and often for more than a 50% discount. The worst thing that can happen when you ask for an upgrade is that they say no, the best case scenario is that you travel in style or stay in an even better hotel room than you thought, so it’s well worth asking the question!

Transfer in Style

Blacklane -- Woman exiting vehicle

Something else I like to do, to make me feel a bit special, is to take a chauffeur service to and from my destination airport. These services are only a little more expensive than a taxi and give you full confidence and peace of mind. Last year I was in Berlin and used a company called Blacklane, I got a text before they arrived so that as I left the plane I knew my car was waiting, a cheery man was waiting for me at arrivals and I rolled into Berlin in a beautiful black Mercedes. I did the same for the return leg and I’d recommend anyone to do the same. A little bit of luxury and personal service truly makes you feel good, what better way to start your trip.

Reliving Your Dream Trip From Home

January 1, 2016 By Admin Leave a Comment

dream_trip

Remember that dream trip? The white sands, turquoise blue water, margaritas, and warm weather? Now that you are back home and the cold of winter has really set in, it all seems so far away that it might even have been just a dream. When you are really missing that favorite destination of yours, it seems so tempting to hop on a jet and fly back, unpack your bags, and settle in for good.

But escaping reality is not always a possibility. The reality is, you have a life where you have settle down and it can be hard to break free from your job, friends, family, and daily routine. If you do not have the option of leaving your space for good, you can invite your dream destination into your regular life at home.

When we visit establishments based in the culture of our dream destination, we can revisit those areas without ever having to hop on a jet to do so. If you are missing those white sands and warm weather, try visiting a local Mexican joint that serves up authentic fare and ambiance to boot. Food is one thing, but you are missing more than just the taste of fish tacos. What you are looking for is to recreate the feeling of being in that exotic locale. You want to experience the culture, smell the smells, hear the noises, and speak with the locals. You can only do that by making sure you check into an establishment that authentically represents the culture where its food comes from.

Next time you are feeling a little down about being back in the daily grind, remember that you can bring your little slice of paradise right back into your home life. That exotic destination is not actually that far off. When you do a little looking around, you will find that some of the best parts of the place you love actually exist right in your own neighborhood.

Toning Up for Your Trip Abroad

January 1, 2016 By Admin Leave a Comment

weight-loss

Are you getting ready for your first big trip abroad? On most people’s checklist are material things. While most people are concerned with acquiring things, like new luggage (whether you prefer backpacking or rolling suitcases is up to you), small hand-held communication devices, quick-dry towels, a first aid kit, ultra warm, yet lightweight sweaters, there are also several more things you need to accomplish before taking off. Of course, you need to arrange your travel plans. You probably want to take some time and consider the fastest and cheapest flights available to you. Once you have handled these basics, it is time to take your preparation to the next level.

Many people overlook their physical well-being before taking off on a major trip. But it is worth considering how well your body is prepared for what you are about to undertake. Depending on the type of trip you want to take, you might need a body that is ready to pack a hundred pounds of gear, or maybe simply be ready to walk around a few museums. If you are out of shape, that is no problem. For some trips, which are designed primarily around lying around a pool, you can get away with that. For other trips however, it could be worth getting yourself into a little better shape.
You do not need to hit the gym like a maniac to get yourself back into decent shape. While many people seem to laugh it off as if yoga is not a health-giving exercise routine, it provides numerous benefits. When you feel like you need a little better circulation, a little more energy throughout the day, either to calm your body or energize you, or just want to tone your muscles, consider giving yoga a try. Depending on what you are looking for, you can try different types of yoga to give you just what your body needs. Yoga is great because you can practice it almost anywhere, as well. Once you have learned a few positions, you can take your new practice with you on the road. You will find many people in your travels abroad who would love to connect over your mutual appreciation of yoga, too.

5 Items a Flashpacking Girl Should Take on Her Travels

November 15, 2015 By Admin Leave a Comment

flashpacker

If you are a flashpacker, this puts you in a unique situation as you are able to spend money and have a slightly more “elevated experience” but you are still travelling. Therefore, everything you pack must have a purpose and be versatile. For female travelers, this is even trickier as we have outfits and style to maintain. As a female, and one who usually travels on a flashpacking budget, here is a list of the five things I always bring on international trips, but don’t be forgetting those Travelocity vouchers!

Cellphone

A cellphone is a rather obvious thing to bring with. But I use it for many things besides contacting people and taking photos. I use it for travel guides and for pre-saved city maps so I always have the important travel information with me regardless of space or Wi-Fi access. This was helpful when I went to Shanghai, China where google maps are not accessible. I also use TripAdvisor and Yelp apps to scope out the local food scene. Finally, I use the notes app on my phone to journal my experiences or write down great restaurants I have been to. Having my cellphone on hand helps me navigate cities, stay connected with friends and meet new people, and document my journey along the way.

IPad or Tablet

Having an iPad or tablet on hand is very helpful for travelling. I usually download books, magazines, movies, and music to keep me occupied while travelling between destinations. A laptop could also be used, but I have found that a tablet takes up less space, is less noticeable (if you are concerned about theft), and serves many of the same functions as a laptop.

Portable Cellphone Battery

The final digital device I recommend is having a portable battery for your cellphone. I charge mine before leaving and when I have access to outlets, that way I always have the option for a full cellphone charge no matter where I go.

A Nice Scarf

As a travelling lady, staying fashionable is important but challenging. However, one of my favorite fashion accessories is also very functional; a nice, wide scarf. When I am cold in a plane, train, or bus I use it as a mini-blanket. I have even used mine to keep me dry if I get stuck in the rain without an umbrella.

Black Crossover Purse

The other accessory I suggest is a black (or neutral color) purse, preferably one that is small enough to be a cross-over but big enough to hold a travel book. This will serve to hold anything you may need, wallet, hand-sanitizer, lonely planet guides, etc. while looking much nicer than carrying a backpack around.

As a flashpacker, you never know when you will be eating street food one second and then sipping cocktails at the local W Hotel. These five items will help any flashpacking lady maintain style, not over-pack, and most importantly, have a great travel experience.

Where In Europe Will You Eat Like a King?

October 19, 2015 By Admin Leave a Comment

florence-336098_640

For such a relatively small region, continental Europe has a bewildering variety of languages, cultures and customs. It is also fascinating to see how a short trip across the continent can expose you to a massive range of different types of food. So, where in Europe will you most enjoy eating?

Florence for Fresh Home Cooking

It is easy to associate Italy with some of our favourite pasta dishes but there is a lot more to it than that. Each region of this fantastic country has a different type of cuisine. Perhaps the one which has received most critical acclaim in the UK in recent years is the Tuscan cuisine. This is a simple, wholesome way of cooking which involve a lot of fresh ingredients. Best of all, this is a picturesque region which great cities like Florence and Siena in it. Many Brits decide to come here to enjoy a foodie holiday, with some of them even deciding to take Tuscan cookery classes as part of the adventure.

Oktoberfest for a Huge Variety of Sausages

The variety and quality of sausages on sale in Germany is quite staggering. From the classic Bratwurst to the fast food staple called Currywurst and the bloody Blutwurst, there are many different types for you to try. Oktoberfest in Munich is one of the best opportunities to try out some of these wonderful sausages. Huge amounts of sausages are eaten here, along with an estimated 7 litres of beer ever year. If you like the sound of this sort of food experience then Oktoberfest in Munich could be ideal for you.

Paella and Horchata in Valencia

If there is one food you associate with Spain above all others then it is probably paella. You might be surprised to find how many different types of paella you find once you travel there. It is a basically a rice dish which can include seafood, meat, vegetables, beans and just about anything else. While we tend to think of this as being a typical Spanish meal, it is really most associated with the Valencia region. That doesn’t mean that you can’t get a plate of paella elsewhere. However, if you want to eat it in a classic setting you should do so in Valencia or the surrounding region. A classic drink here is called horchata and a refreshing glass of this delicious drink will help cool you down on a hot summer’s day.

Frog’s Legs in Dombes

It has recently been suggested that Brits were eating frog’s legs before the French started doing so. This is regarded as a classic Gallic dish but it is far from the only country where they are seen as a delicacy. For example, Indonesia, Thailand and China are some of the places where they are commonly eaten.  The Dombes region of France is one of the parts of the country where they are most widely consumed. If you want to try some local specialities while you are in France then this is sure to be near the top of your list.

How to Create a Memorable Weekend Celebration on a Budget

Whether you are planning a stag weekend or are looking to go away for the weekend for your 21st birthday one thing is for sure; you want to make it a weekend to remember. Nevertheless, the only issue is that not everybody has the money to fund the elaborate celebratory plans they have in mind. But this doesn’t mean you should have to scale down your ideas. You simply have to find a way of achieving a fantastic weekend that won’t break everyone’s bank balance.

Stay in Your Own Country

You don’t have to go abroad to have a memorable party weekend. For example, of you’re a Brit; there are plenty of fantastic places all over the UK that can provide you with a celebration that is just as good – if not better. Why not head into the big city itself and have a lavish celebration in London? Or, what about humble old Newcastle up in the north-east? Newcastle is widely considered to be the best place to go for hen dos and stag weekends. And that is without even mentioning Brighton, Cardiff, Nottingham, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newquay, Manchester and Glasgow.

Book in advance

The craze for booking accommodation and travel last minute seems to have worn off and as sexy as it seems on paper – doing this can upset your bank balance and also damage your piece of mind. The longer you leave train and air tickets the more expensive they seem to be. Not only this, but you won’t benefit from leaving accommodation until the last minute either. All that will happen is the hotels will become booked up and those that do have spaces left will put their prices up. If you book in advance not only do you reap the rewards of a better deal but you give all your friends time to pay the weekend trip away off.

Pre-drink

Have a few drinks in your hotel before you go out for the night. Get some alcohol from the nearest supermarket and have a couple in the hotel room to get the party started. This will save everybody money when they are out because they won’t need to buy as many drinks. Pre-drinking is becoming somewhat of a phenomenon in the UK. It is a great way to save money but it is definitely recommended to be sensible with the amount you consume.

Look for club deals

Have a look on the internet and see if any clubs or bars are doing deals. In order to survive in the modern day even the most popular clubs offer deals in order to entice their customers, such as a fee drink upon entry. By doing a bit of research before you go you can definitely save money on your actual night out.

Research restaurants online

Nowadays most restaurants have their own website whereby they post their menu. You will be able to hunt down the most affordable restaurants in the area. It is always recommended to book a table in advance anyway as most restaurants tend to be busy during the weekend. Nonetheless, if you look at the menu before you don’t run the risk of any nasty surprises once the bill comes in.

If you use the five tips provided in this article then you should have no trouble planning a cheap yet memorable weekend away. You and friends can have a weekend you will be laughing and smiling about for a long time without breaking the bank.
