Monday Morning Series: Kite Surfing in Mallorca

Adrenaline fuelled and growing in popularity, kite surfing is fast becoming one of the most popular water sports.  It combines windsurfing, paragliding and wake boarding, harnessing the power of the wind with a large kite.  I first heard of kite surfing (aka kite boarding) in Australia and marvelled at the speed and agility of the boarders as they sped across the water.  It looked exhilarating to say the least!

When traveling to Mallorca, I rarely have time to go in the water – I am there to ride my bike long before the summer season arrives.  While waiting to pick up my rental bike, I often have spare time down along the promenade in Palma de Mallorca where I can watch the world, and the kites, go by!  The boarders put on quite a show!

Happy Monday Morning

  3. Terrific photo, Anita. I’ve watched kite surfers off the coast of Miami and was blown away (pun intended) by the speed and manueverability. Not for the faint of heart!
