TDBL Roundup – March 2013

So much is happening in the travel sphere at the moment.  Spring break has people all over, kicking up their heels and letting the travel dreams loose!  Did you travel for spring break?

Spring break in Cancun

Not wanting to miss out on the action, I booked a last minute trip to New Orleans – the Big Easy to join in on the spring break crazy!  Clearly a popular choice, my New Orleans Bucket List went off the charts the day it was published!  Still writing up all the Big Easy fun – be sure to check back for more photos and tips!

Parade in the Big Easy, New Orleans

Another popular theme in  March – wine! Visit California Wine Country by Jetting Around, A luscious Zinfandel Tour in Croatia by Tricia Mitchell (clearly, I need to go back to Croatia – how did I miss this!) and Lucy’s Port tasting in Porto!  Visiting Canada this summer?  We also have some amazing wine territory – check out the wine trail with Wine Tasting in Prince Edward County.  A summer trip to Prague – hidden from view, check out U Stare Studny, it’s not your standard cave!

Grape Harvest in Spain

On the home front, I am still working my way through the 2013 Ottawa Restaurant Bucket List.  Already this spring, new restaurants are opening and a new list has presented itself.  Do you love street food?  Foodie Prints Long Live Street Food will have your mouth watering in an instant!  Looks like I am going to need to get more exercise on the road….so many dishes to sample!

Cycling with French Quarter Bicycle Tours, New Orleans

I saw a great quote by Lawrence K Fish…while I have adapted it here – it really sums up what I believe and how Travel Destination Bucket List came into being: “Life is meant to be lived to the fullest…swallow experiences whole.  Travel often.  Meet new people.  Cherish new experiences.  Get lost in the moment!  Try everything you can and exhaust yourself in the process!  Do this in the name of the glorious pursuit of life!”  What about you? Do you have a bucket list?  Check out this series by Veni Vidi Vici – she is interviewing inspiring bucket listers on line.  And one last thought on the bucket list – have you heard of the Cradle Lists?

Bucket list of inspiration, lonely planet

March has been a busy month!  Looking forward to easing into spring…what will April bring for you?  Where to next?

  2. Spring means the tourists will start to flood San Diego and parking is going to be difficult… I actually started to feel yesterday when I struggled to park my car! First world problems, eh? :)

    • Oh dear! I remember those very same thoughts when I lived in Australia! My perfect patch of quiet beach could become quite the madhouse on the weekends. I certainly had my in-season and off-season favourite places. Guess there are worse problems to have.

  3. “Luscious” is indeed a fitting way to describe our special afternoon in Croatian wine country. Thanks so much for sharing the story with your readers, Anita. Also, I love the closing quote you referenced.

    • Thank you Tricia. Reading your article about your wine experience in Croatia made me want to drop everything and hop on a plane. That is a part of Croatia that I did not experience last year while there. Sounded like an amazing day.
