Dream of living like a local in Europe? I do. And this time I want to do it right! Go with Oh has apartments in 10 divine European cities…all worthy Bucket List destinations! Whether you dream of visiting Paris, one of the worlds most romantic cities, riding a gondola in Venice or a pub crawl in Dublin…. Go with Oh has a holiday apartment that is right for you.
The hard part now…narrowing it down to just 4 of their amazing destinations. Choices include: Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, Dublin, Florence, London, Prague, Rome, Venice and Vienna. It’s an open house…as always, the questions remains: Where to next?
Where do I want to go with Oh????
Needless to say, my bucket list is ever expanding. Experiencing new adventures, cultures and living life to the fullest is what makes me happiest. Being inspired to travel is in my genes – I am half Australian after all! Sharing my crazy adventures with you…that’s an added bonus! And seriously, what can be better than Spring in Europe…so where do we go from here?
Part of the Go with Oh challenge is to create a blog post about your dream trip to one of the fabulous Go with Oh cities, share it online and through twitter (@IWantToGowithOh) and hope Santa brings you the awesomest gift this side of Christmas – the Grand Prize – 4 weeks in 4 cities in 2013! It’s Open House season…..and I want to Go with Oh to Rome.
What could be more perfect than calling this apartment home for a week?? Right in the heart of Rome’s Old Town, everything your heart could wish for would be at your doorstep….the history, the food, the essence of Italy…just waiting for you!
What makes a week in Rome unforgettable to me?
Tour Rome on the back of a Vespa
Vespa Tours – You know it is going to be a good day when you cruise the streets of Rome like the Romans do….on a Vespa or course! Take in the cobbled streets and hidden corners of town for a memorable experience of the eternal city.
Gladiator School
Let your inner Gladiator shine at the Roman Gladiator School. This isn’t just for kids you know. This is a chance to not only learn about Roman history – but live it. Why should Russell Crowe have all the fun? Put on the tunic, pick up your weapon (a wooden sword). It is time to bring on the gladiators! Little known fact…in university I was a fencer. Needless to say, this is just crazy enough to be up my alley! Spend time with professional trainers who will teach you the basics of the gladiator. Will make for a unique Roman experience. Not to worry…there will be plenty of photos!
Cycling Rome and surrounds
You may think I am a little crazy here, but I have been holding on to my Cycling Italy guide book for too many years now. I am dying to get out there and explore…and while it may be a little chaotic…cycling Rome is an exhilarating proposition. She may not be the most bike friendly city, but you will feel her energy as you navigate her streets. The bike will offer the freedom to explore further afield than you ever would imagine on foot – just one of the many reasons I love to travel by bicycle.
Cooking school
No doubt, after Gladiotor School and feeling the thriving pulse of the city on two wheels, experiencing the gastronomic pleasures of the region will be in top order. Besides discovering quiet restaurants tucked away in lovely piazzas, sampling the wines that Italy is famous for and the quest for amazing gelato, I love to cook and check out the local markets. My experience at a Basque cooking school in San Sebastian remains one of the highlights of my week in Basque country… food is such an important part of the Italian culture….it is a part I would not like to miss! Learning about the pleasures and flavours of Italian cuisine is high on my list. Who knows…maybe someone can even show me how they throw the pizza dough!
Photography tour
Rome is so alive…I can feel her quiver from here as I consider her ancient ruins and temples. Rome would be an enchanting city to take a personal photography tour with an expert who would teach me how to get the best keepsake of all – a collection of fine photographs, including tips on how to go beyond the traditional postcard shots (again…I am only too happy to share!). I would love, as Tony Boccaccio (owner of Imaging In Italy) says, to bring Rome’s history alive through visual story telling. With plenty of choice, I am certain I will find more inspiration than I can handle while walking the streets of Rome. It would be awesome to spend a day, exploring and photographing her icons … the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps…the list just keeps on going!
The toughest question of all – who would I take? Sure, I could think of a celebrity or two to bring…but that just isn’t going to happen. Too many of my friends, family and loved ones, who know where I live, would certainly lynch me! A fellow blogger – we could have a riot creating crazy content and photos, blitzing it all over the internet. The only solution…a mix with someone different for each week. (Bidding may begin once I have heard the word!)
And you can get in on the action too….head over to Go with Oh’s Facebook page for your chance to win such fantastic prizes as an iPhone 5, a new iPad 2 or your very own European Go with Oh mini-break.
Should I win the Go with Oh travel blogger prize, don’t worry my dear readers…I will gladly bring you along for the ride!
