Go chasing waterfalls
One of the best-known waterfalls in the world, Niagara attracts tourists year round thanks to its breathtaking six million cubic feet of continuously flowing water. You and your partner will be mesmerized by the cascading falls, which are lit up at night to create a spectacular glow. Known widely as a honeymoon destination, Niagara’s magnificence is enhanced by the terrific restaurants, great hotels and fun casino resort.
To the mountaintop
Canada is home to soaring mountains that seem to stretch on for eternity. The legendary Canadian Rockies, in Alberta, feature resorts for those couples looking for a cosy log-cabin kind of weekend. Alternatively, adventurous couples can take a camping trip or go hiking, sailing, and fishing in the alpine rivers and lakes. Best of all, you’ll often have complete privacy, with only the native wildlife around you for company.

Let it snow
If simply walking around the mountains isn’t enough for you, you could spend a weekend away hitting the slopes. Whether it’s skiing, snowboarding or simply drinking hot chocolate by the fire in the nearby lodge, you cannot beat a snowy weekend away at a ski resort in a town like Whistler, which is two hours away from Vancouver by car. (The drive itself is worth the journey – it’s one of Canada’s most scenic routes.)
If you’re not much of a skier, you can spend time in one of Whistler’s magnificent day spas or enjoy the taste of local cuisine at one of the nearby restaurants.
Romance like you’re in France
Romantic, quaint Quebec City is the heart of Canadian’s thriving French culture. Close your eyes and you’re in Paris – what with the cobblestone streets, the adorable pastry shops and the romantic candlelit restaurants complete with white tablecloths.
Take a stroll through the streets and duck into the beautiful French cafes for a croissant or cup of coffee to keep you warm as the weather begins to turn. Whether you’ve just met your partner on eHarmony Canada, an online dating website, or you’ve been together for years, it’s the perfect place for a quick romantic getaway.
Holiday in Halifax
Nova Scotia’s capital is a charming little city that has everything you’ll find in a bigger city like Toronto or Vancouver, but in a smaller package. Enjoy the last taste of summer by checking out its beautiful local beaches, fishing villages and coastal shorelines. Make sure you take time to indulge in a beautiful seafood dinner overlooking the ocean.
